PerfectScale: Optimizing Day 2 Kubernetes Ops for Cost and Performance

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Since we last covered PerfectScale in April 2023, the company has extended its Kubernetes cluster optimization offering to cover the breadth of day 2 (full production) Kubernetes operations.

PerfectScale addresses both overprovisioning (leading to waste) and underprovisioning (which can cause performance bottlenecks and downtime).

The platform is sophisticated enough to account for transient pod ramp-up resource requirements and can also incorporate developer needs for sporadic scalability, for example, to deal with holiday traffic.

As with competing products, PerfectScale leverages historical operational data to predict ongoing scalability requirements. In addition, the company offers ‘revision awareness,’ which takes into account the fact that new or modified microservices lack such data.

PerfectScale optimizes workloads at both the pod and node level. If it uncovers a misconfiguration, it can create a task that opens a ticket and/or generate a YAML file that an operator can use to resolve the issue directly.

PerfectScale is also available on the DataDog marketplace.
