An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
Palo Alto Networks recently signed a deal to acquire IBM’s QRadar Saas product and incorporate IBM’s wastonx LLM solution into Palo Alto’s Cortex product.
IBM also agreed to train more than a thousand security consultants on Palo Alto’s products. The two companies offer help migrating customers from QRadar to Cortex XSIAM.
While the agreement bolsters Palo Alto’s customer base, it doesn’t change their strategy, which is to deliver a comprehensive platform that enforces consistent security policies for an organization across any application, device, network, or cloud.
Palo Alto is incorporating AI into their platform to help discover security vulnerabilities, identify supply chain risks, flag misconfigurations, and expose production threats.
They are extending the platform to also secure gen AI interactions, including maintaining access security, checking traffic both ways, and setting policies on PII access and distribution.
Palo Alto expects organizations to require security solutions for hybrid infrastructure for the foreseeable future. You can run their platform in the data center, use their cloud managed service, or a combination of both. Their platform is integrated with the consoles for AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud.
Specifically for the cloud, Palo Alto trains its AI models to detect misconfigurations and prevent data leakage.
Once applications are in production, Palo Alto’s platform detects and protects against a set of production risks, such as prompt injection and DDOS attacks, and uses AI to combine multiple inputs and summarize a threat prioritization report.
