Arctos Labs: Policy-Based Optimization of Cloud to Edge Workload Placement

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Arctos Labs leverages its policy engine to optimize the placement of workloads across cloud and edge infrastructure, both cloud native and traditional virtual machines.

The Arctos policy engine supports the open-source Open Policy Agent (OPA) toolset and framework for policy.

The platform leverages this policy engine to create algorithms for workload placement based upon numerous constraints, including performance, cost, and business constraints like data sovereignty.

Based upon these algorithms, Arctos then generates MiniZinc intermediate representations of the desired optimizations. (MiniZinc is an open-source high-level constraint modeling language.)

Arctos can then generate executable forms of the optimizations in Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code languages.
