Camunda: adding RPA and IDP to its Process Orchestration and Automation Platform

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

We’ve covered Camunda several times over the years, with the most recent coverage in October 2023.

CamundaSince that time, the company has added robotic process automation (RPA) and intelligent document processing (IDP) to its process orchestration and automation platform.

Camunda leveraged the open source Robot Framework to build the RPA module. It covers common RPA use cases for situations where API access to legacy assets isn’t available, including desktop apps as well as mainframe green screen, command-line, and SAP interfaces.

The Camunda IDP module analyzes documents and extracts data from them. Extraction methods can include large language models (LLMs) or form extraction.

Both new modules provide composable capabilities within its platform, enabling customers to create complex process automations with RPA and/or IDP tasks.

Camunda is also rolling out improved integration with SAP and AI agents that can automate individual tasks within process orchestrations. Additional AI capabilities are in the works.
