Monarrch offers technology that creates digital tokens that uniquely identify a musical artist’s style as represented in one or more of their original pieces.
The company then provides a transaction engine for managing the rights of intellectual property (IP) holders, a clearinghouse for IP compliance for AI technology companies, as well as an AI compliance engine for regulatory bodies.
When an end-user (or a business) attempts to use generative AI to create a piece of music, any AI tool that supports Monarrch will require the user to specify an artist’s style. The AI tool thus has permission to use any content in that style as the input data for the generated music.
The Monarrch infrastructure then handles the IP rights behind the scenes, ensuring IT holders receive just payment while indemnifying the AI vendor.
The Monarrch technology also works with other forms of content including video content, human likenesses, etc., but the company is focusing on music out of the gate.
The company is now in the process of enlisting brand-name musical producers to establish its bona fides before approaching AI vendors.
