New Relic: Intelligent Observability that Leverages Agentic AI

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

A lot has changed at New Relic since we last wrote about them in February 2021. The veteran observability vendor has now moved all-in on agentic AI with its ‘intelligent observability’ strategy.

At the heart of this strategy is the New Relic intelligence engine, which adds an agentic orchestrator, a RAG-based context connector, and agent-based predictions to its existing AI-rich engine that already included generative AI (genAI), predictive AI, as well as anomaly detection, event correlation, and other common features of other observability platforms on the market.

The New Relic platform can combine non-deterministic agents with more traditional deterministic observability features as required, as well as keeping humans in the decision-making loop.

New Relic’s agentic orchestration brings together agents from multiple vendors into an agentic ecosystem, where agents feed data to one another to proactively address customer requirements.

Because AI agents can initiate action, they can leverage genAI to communicate with users in natural language without requiring user-created prompts.

The result is a combination of intelligent data, insights, and actions that reinvent traditionally reactive observability solutions, offering a proactive approach that goes well beyond traditional observability metrics to redefine the power of observability.
