Continuent: Highly Available and Reliable MySQL and MariaDB Clusters

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Continuent’s Tungsten Cluster runs highly available and reliable MySQL and MariaDB databases in a data center, cloud, or hybrid cloud infrastructure, supporting demanding enterprise workloads.

Continuent designs and configures MySQL and MariaDB database clusters for global operations, multi-site replication for disaster recovery, continuous uptime, and high performance for large volumes of data. They offer 24x7x365 support services.

Customers typically deploy the clusters across thousands or hundreds of thousands of servers, which requires a high degree of technical skill and capability to set up and maintain.

Facebook, Google, AWS, and other large tech companies operate similar MySQL and MariaDB clusters but have internal staff with the expertise and skills required to do so.

Continuent staff help customers without such skill sets to design, manage, and support the database clusters to meet demanding database requirements.

Additionally, Continuent filters and transforms data in flight for replication into RedShift or ClickHouse, either with its own Replicator or with Kafka.

Continuent is developing support to host PostgreSQL databases, and to add point in time capability to its backup/restore feature.

Also in the works is an AI tool to analyze log output from the clusters to assist their efforts to continuously improve the reliability and stability of their deployments,
