When we last covered VIAVI in April 2024, the company’s focus was leveraging its deep network visibility capabilities to provide threat exposure management.
At this year’s TM Forum DTW Ignite conference, the company featured its ability to smooth network utilization for telcos by differentiating between peek and average loads, moving workloads as needed, and offering dynamic ‘spot’ pricing for network capacity.
Spot pricing is familiar from AWS, which uses the technique to provide cloud resources at a discount when extra resources are available. VIAVI’s spot pricing works in a similar fashion for network capacity resources.
For its telco and regulated industry customers, VIAVI’s ability to smooth network utilization can guarantee quality of service while reducing the need to overprovision network resources, thus saving money as well.
