An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
By now, we can see that securing applications with perimeter based defense mechanisms is not always sufficient protection against cyber attacks.
Firewalls, web application firewalls, encryption, and threat detection systems are necessary, but not always sufficient.
Attackers often bypass these defenses, for example by obtaining user IDs and passwords with phishing and social engineering. Or stealing credentials via brute force.
And then there’s the growing proliferation of “east-west” traffic that bypasses the perimeter to interact with gen AI chatbots and other external APIs.
The solution, says Aviatrix, is a security fabric inside your cloud based network, consisting of mini eBPF based gateways that monitor network traffic, apply security policies, and respond immediately to threats such as privileged account violations.
Their solution works for any cloud provider, and across cloud providers. Customers onboard their cloud accounts and applications and Aviatrix provides centralized visibility and control over all network traffic.
The gateway and related products provide end to end encryption, a Kubernetes firewall, URL filtering, geo-blocking, geolocation-based monitoring, microsegmentation, and advanced threat detection.
Applications and CI/CD pipelines don’t have to be modified to deploy and implemenrt the Aviatrix solution, eliminating a common point of friction between developers and cyber security staff that occurs with a more intrusive approach to security.
