Elastiflow: Combining Network Intelligence with Application Tracing

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Outages and incidents are as inevitable as a storm. When the storm comes, the human response is critical. Even with AI assistance.

Applications and networks are inseparably intertwined in modern distributed systems, for example in cloud native microservices based applications containerized and deployed in Kubernetes.

And because some incidents originate in the application, and others originate in the network, it can often be unclear where to start the response to an incident or outage.

When we last spoke with Elastiflow they were quickly and proactively identifying network hazards and and providing data to analyze and identify potential issues.

And they are still in this network performance and security space, offering insights for connected services and applications to help improve user experiences.

But recently they announced the release of Mermin, which extends their capabilities into Kubernetes clusters, allowing them to include the application perspective within their overall capability to help manage, optimize, and secure complex networks.

Elastiflow now not only provides information for network engineers, but also adds application tracing to help determine whether an incident is a network, application, or other type of issue.

Elastiflow now collects and enriches both device telemetry and application tracing information to achieve such a determination, and helps both application developers and network engineers more quickly collaborate in responding to an incident or outage.
