DH2i: SQL Server on Linux? Yes, and High Availability Too

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

When we last covered DH2i in February 2024, the company was taking its high-availability (HA) clustering solution for Microsoft SQL Server to Kubernetes on Linux.

Today, with another two years of Kubernetes maturity under its belt, DH2i is redoubling its support for the platform, in large part because its SQL Server customers want to run their HA clusters on Linux.

This pattern derives in large part from Microsoft’s strategy to support SQL Server as a modern database offering while simultaneously emphasizing Linux as its preferred server environment over Windows.

Given Microsoft’s continuing support for the database, SQL Server customers largely remain committed to the platform and find DH2i’s HA clustering technology to be essential for running mission-critical workloads on the database.

Now that DH2i is updating its SQL Server Kubernetes operator to provide improved scale up and scale down capabilities, automated rolling updates, flexible service templates, and StatefulSet-based management, SQL Server customers can take heart that they can continue to run mission-critical workloads on Linux for years to come.
