An Intellyx Update from KubeCon NA 2023
While Grafana Labs will always be closely associated with now-ubiquitous Grafana dashboards, this commercial open source platform provider is helping to drive other key telemetry projects that impact the metrics and alerts developers see, from Prometheus, to Loki for logs, Mimir storage, and others.
Since our last briefing in 2019, the firm launched their Grafana Cloud managed observability platform that incorporates these innovations with a popular ‘free forever’ entry price point for 3-person teams.
And most recently—today in fact—they acquired Asserts.ai, which will greatly enhance the platform’s telemetry data filtering, correlation and root cause analysis capabilities, while reducing data storage costs.
“Grafana is super popular, but all too often, observability focuses engineers on the underlying technology rather than giving them a higher level of understanding of what it all means,” said Tom Wilkie, CTO of Grafana Labs. “Applications teams face an explosion in telemetry data—it’s almost unbounded. We want to use and store only the data we can get value from.”
