Mobile device protection provider Appdome has released two new defenses related to geo protection: Geo-Location Fencing and Geo DeSync Attack Detection.
Together these defenses protect against mobile device attackers using false location information to commit fraud and theft.
“Detecting geo-related fraud is a top priority in today’s mobile app economy. Attackers are increasingly using location spoofing to avoid compliance, for example,” said Eric Newcomer, CTO and Principal Analyst at Intellyx. “Mobile apps rely on accurate location for their services and are increasingly required to confirm device location to maintain trust. Appdome’s mobile Geo Compliance service reduces developer complexity for implementing advanced geo-compliance security features.”
Geo-fencing is essential for Know Your Customer (KYC) onboarding and meeting regulatory mandates from the U.S. government, EU, and Singapore, to name a few.
Appdome uses location services built into the device to protect against an attacker who might attempt to falsify the device’s actual location.
