EmachineLabs: Extending Blockly to an Enterprise Low-Code Platform

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

To understand EmachineLabs, you must first understand Google Blockly.

According to Wikipedia, Blockly is a client-side library for the programming language JavaScript for creating block-based visual programming languages and editors. The default GUI of the Blockly editor consists of a toolbox, which holds available blocks, and where a user can select blocks, and a workspace, where a user can drag and drop and rearrange blocks.

While Blockly can generate code in several programming languages, it is most useful for educational purposes, as it lacks the power to support the requirements of enterprise applications.

That’s where EmachineLabs comes in. EmachineLabs offers an enterprise-class low-code platform that leverages Blockly as its primary application construction interface.

The company then adds to Blockly numerous enterprise-centric capabilities, including API and data integration, security configurations, support for iOS and Android applications, UI development, and workflow construction.

All these capabilities leverage Blockly to support sophisticated application construction. The platform can generate Blockly from workflow diagrams (and vice-versa).

EmachineLabs also leverages generative AI to convert hand-drawn sketches into working UIs and can build out perhaps 80% of a working application from a text or vocal prompt.

Applications built with EmachineLabs can run in containers independently of a vendor-specific cloud platform. Mobile apps require connectivity and the installation of a helper app on the device.
