Tetrate: Trusted microservice connectivity for boundless agent workloads

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Tetrate leveraged its deep connective tissue for microservices to build a production-grade AI integration layer with an agent gateway, semantic context-aware routing, observability and policy-based guardrails for securely connecting AI agents and GenAI application workloads within a broader cloud native application landscape.

A lot has changed since our last briefings with Tetrate in 2023 and 2021, specifically the proliferation of LLMs and agents within enterprise environments, along with the increased service-to-service traffic, performance concerns and functional insecurity that non-deterministic AI logic introduces. In order to productively operationalize our new agent co-workers, automated oversight is required.

Fortunately, AI and Kubernetes microservices share a common language: APIs. The new Tetrate Agent Router, built on their open source Envoy AI Gateway, provides a self-service agent development and deployment platform, with a service catalog of vetted models and MCP tools, and continuous monitoring of agent and service endpoint API traffic and activity against AI guardrails.

Though not a governance solution by definition, development teams and SREs get a complete audit trail in order to track down possible compliance issues, such as unauthorized agent identities, training data misuse, or out-of-bounds prompts and responses that happen in production.
