Tetrate: Service Mesh for Cloud Native Zero-Trust

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

When we last spoke with Tetrate in August 2021, the company was building out its commercial service mesh offering based on the open-source Istio to provide east-west connectivity between microservices.

Today, it is rolling out Tetrate Service Express, a lightweight version of its full commercial service mesh product that provides connectivity and Zero-Trust security on Amazon EKS (Kubernetes-as-a-Service on AWS).

This product’s zero-trust capabilities are especially important because Kubernetes deployments abstract ephemeral endpoints that may not have user identities associated with them.

Tetrate enforces zero-trust policies between EKS services, providing a dedicated infrastructure layer that offers service discovery, security, authentication, and observability across microservices.
