IBM webcast on Digital Business

By Willie Favero

The digital age has arrived… Again…. It is far more than anything we’ve ever seen before and makes all other “digital arrivals” seem pale in comparison. With this arrival corporations could excel or fall into to oblivion depending on how this use and manage the massive amounts of untapped data available to them. For me, one of the coolest things, if not THE coolest thing, about this “arrival” is how a corporation’s success can be profoundly enhanced by IBM z Systems…. the Mainframe.

faveroThe Mainframe is alive and well and better than ever…

“The word mainframe hasn’t been a techie buzzword since before, well, the word buzzword was a buzzword, right? …… Perhaps – but just because mainframes have been around for decades doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be a part of today’s cutting edge techie conversations. On the contrary – mainframes are alive and well, and they’re not going anywhere any time soon.”

The Miami Dolphin’s vision on how they are going to improve the fan’s experience is explained by Tery Howard, their CIO, in the detailed blog post “The Miami Dolphins Aim to Transform the Fan Experience at Sun Life Stadium” ( Full blog post) by Steve Hamm, IBM CHQ, Communications, Chief Storyteller. Here’s a short quote from that post…

“ …… integrate a wide variety of information streams and in-stadium service providers into a single info management system. “We’re creating a smarter stadium,” says Howard. “We want to make sure the fans leave with the ‘wow!’ feeling whether the team wins or loses.”

Marie Wieck, IBM General Manager, Systems Middleware, in here article “Why the digital experience matters” ( Full article) recently stated…

“A consumer’s first interaction with a brand is increasingly likely to be online, including through mobile devices. A good first impression matters a lot—and many companies don’t deliver it. …… it turns out that the dynamics of the digital experience are very much like those that have governed commerce through time. It’s all about delighting uses in the moment. “
