Disruption is ubiquitous in today’s tumultuous business environment. Sources of disruption surround us, from ever-accelerating technology innovations to industry-shattering, revolutionary business models. Change is constant, unpredictable, and introduces unprecedented levels of risk for enterprises large and small.
Disruption, however, can be a positive force as well. Disruption drives innovation, just as the reverse is also true. Within organizations, disruption can drive progress – when poor business practices are the target of such disruption.
Application intelligence vendor AppDynamics has gone all in to drive positive disruption for its burgeoning list of blue chip customers. And not a moment too soon, as seemingly every industry is reaching a critical strategic inflection point.
This inflection point: executives are now realizing that the risk of not changing exceeds the risk of change. Furthermore, such change must be end-to-end and top-to-bottom. As one big company after another becomes a software-driven, customer-focused organization, applications drive the end-to-end customer experience.
And who is there to help facilitate this change? AppDynamics.
From Line of Code to Business Transaction
At this week’s AppSphere customer conference, it’s clear that AppDynamics is on a tear. Fresh off another round of investment and the hiring of former Adobe exec David Wadhwani as its new President and CEO, it’s clear an IPO is right around the corner.
But its current trajectory goes back to essential architectural decisions that founder and executive chairman Jyoti Bansal and his team made when they founded the company. Instead of building a suite of products that reinforce organizational silos in its customers, AppDynamics built a platform that offers cross-cutting visibility to people in many roles at customer organizations.
At the core of the AppDynamics offering are its agents, which can instrument technology all the way down to the code level. “The line of code is the most important unit of value,” explains Wadhwani. Upon this simple element, AppDynamics has architected an enterprise-class platform that is now disrupting customers, partners, as well as the competition.
