Morphisec: Preventing Malware Bad Behavior

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

At some point, all malware must take some action that is outside the norm for well-behaving software. Perhaps it attempts to run a shell script, or maybe inject some SQL where it doesn’t belong, or possibly overflow a buffer or two.

Morphisec offers an endpoint security solution that stops such bad behavior dead in its tracks. Based on deep knowledge of how the endpoint operating system loads and runs applications (Windows only for now), Morphisec is able to move bona fide code behavior to randomized memory addresses.

Malware, however, will attempt its malfeasance by targeting the original locations in memory, and will fall into the trap that Morphisec has laid for it.

In this way, Morphisec is able to prevent malware from compromising memory, thus stopping even hard-to-detect advanced persistent threats (APTs) dead in their tracks.
