Stratoscale offers a software-based private cloud solution that is fully compatible with Amazon AWS APIs, and installs on most hardware an enterprise might have in its on-premises data center.
Stratoscale thus gives customers an AWS-compatible on-premises hybrid cloud option, and also reduces AWS cloud provider lock-in.
Over the last year, Stratoscale has been expanding its database capabilities, first with the February 2017 acquisition of Database-as-a-Services vendor Tesora. Tesora offers a hardened version of OpenStack Trove, a native database service for OpenStack-based clouds. The Tesora technology gives Stratoscale a NoSQL database alternative to corresponding AWS offerings.
More recently, Stratoscale announced support for pre-configured versions of Cassandra, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL, expanding its database and data warehouse capabilities.
