An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
The founders of Qubole ‘insight-enabled’ every employee during their tenure at Facebook. When they left the company, they decided to spread the love to everyone who needs to work with data, with one essential difference from their work at Facebook – Qubole had to be public cloud-native.
The result: a massively scalable big data platform that runs natively in AWS, Azure, and Oracle’s cloud, with Google coming soon. Qubole provides access to a variety of open source big data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, Presto, Hive and others – with custom source code tweaks to make them run better in the cloud.
Qubole targets its platform at anyone who uses data, from business users to data engineers to data scientists. Furthermore, such users can use Qubole’s user interface, RESTful APIs, JDBC/ODBC connectors or other technologies for accessing its platform.
While Qubole is suitable for just about any big data use case, its sweet spot are organizations who are comfortable keeping their data in the cloud and also require access to third-party data sources.
