StreamData offers a real-time data platform that is able to discover streaming data sources, bring their metadata into a consistent format, and then push managed streams to its customers.
StreamData’s core value proposition, however, is how it is able to discover, classify, and vet data sources. Instead of accessing intermediaries, it goes to the source of each data feed, thus establishing the provenance of each stream.
StreamData’s primary traction is with banks, pension funds, and hedge funds – companies that need a never-ending stream of current, accurate information. In addition, the company is making early forays into the Internet of Things: a rich source of data streams that will also require proper classification and vetting.
