Elemica: Digital Supply Network with Analytics and ‘Long Tail’ Strategy

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Implementing a supply chain network for an entire industry is an enormously difficult challenge. Every supply chain participant has different priorities, integrating with so many companies is technically complex, and signing up enough participants to make the effort worthwhile is a company-killing challenge.

Over the last decade, Elemica has overcome these challenges for the chemical industry, as well as closely related industries like plastics, oil and gas, and automotive components.

Today, Elemica is leveraging process digitalization to onboard medium size and smaller participants, thus offering value to the ‘long tail’ of its target industries.

The company is also improving its analytics capabilities, giving all its customers (buy side, sell side, and logistics) end-to-end supply chain visibility and risk management.

Elemica is keeping its eye on blockchain, as complex supply chains are perhaps the best use case for the technology. However, as Elemica has already established itself as a leading centralized digital supply network, blockchain may add little value to its offering.
