Digital Fingerprints: User Login Behavioral Biometrics Tool for Detecting Impersonators

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Digital Fingerprints uses behavioral biometrics, a machine learning-based approach for identifying users based on their behavior, to add a layer of additional authentication to the login process.

For every login attempt, Digital Fingerprints generates a score that indicates how likely the user attempting the login is the same person as the authorized user.

Companies set their thresholds for this score and their own policies for the actions to take at those thresholds, perhaps rerouting some users to secondary authentication, while blocking others.

Misidentification of authorized users as suspicious is certainly possible, so companies should only use the Digital Fingerprints tool along with other authentication methods. That being said, it does an excellent job identifying bots and other types of brute force attacks.
