Asyncy: Rescripting the Story on Microservice Mashups

An Intellyx BrainCandy Brief

Asyncy logo - Intellyx Brain CandyEntering the low-code space with a new open-source scripting language and platform seems counterintuitive, but that is exactly what Amsterdam-based startup Asyncy intends to do with their goal-oriented Storyscript for building apps atop a reusable marketplace of microservices.

Rather than forking a new branch from existing languages such as C++, Javascript or Ruby, Asyncy’s Storyscript looks less like code and more like a declarative way for developers to describe what they want an application to do. The Asyncy platfom then pulls containers of discrete services from a shared library and choreographs their interaction to deliver a functioning product atop cloud infrastructure.

The company’s success will hinge on building a strong ecosystem of open-source developer fans and a well-populated hub of containers, but CTO and Founder Steve Peak is confident they are on the right path. “Developers won’t just shop for services, we will give them a way to execute them,” he said. “We can apply machine learning, simulate environments, and suggest a path to build and deploy that has worked for thousands of other applications.”
