Crowd Machine: No-Code Platform for Complex Apps using ‘Patterns of Behavior’

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Since we last covered Crowd Machine in December 2017, it has changed its name from Metavine and further matured its no-code platform.

Unlike other no-code vendors that target simple applications that business user ‘citizen developers’ can create, Crowd Machine also hopes that a wider range of application builders can use its platform to create complex enterprise apps that would normally be beyond the abilities of such citizen developers.

In addition, Crowd Machine hopes its customers will build apps that modernize their legacy applications – a challenging goal that a few low-code vendors aspire to, but is essentially unknown in the now-code market.

At the heart of Crowd Machine’s approach to no-code is the notion of ‘patterns of behavior,’ which consist of simple processes or tasks like ‘create account’ or ‘send email.’ The application creator then assembles these patterns into working applications.

Crowd Machine’s platform takes a declarative, model-driven approach. This choice frees its customers from the limitations of code generation and gives them the scalability and resilience of the cloud, but requires them to run apps on the Crowd Machine platform.
