The “Ripple Army” Responds to XRP Ripping

Ripple Army UnitesA couple months ago I wrote an article about JP Morgan Chase’s new JPMcoin (which, by the way, I neither advocate for, nor own any interest in) digital currency, I also happened to mention that another project that claims to be close to banks called Ripple has an investment token XRP, which is unrelated to its own payments utility function and probably a scam.

Little did I know what a reaction that one line, buried deep in an article about someone else, would get. Comments, retweets, mysterious emails from semi-anonymous sources telling me just how wrong I was, and not to mess with “The Ripple Army.” If anything it made me think this story has legs — so I dug a little deeper into the story to see why so many devotees were high enough on this coin to bother responding.

Now, having written this column “Is Ripple A Scam?,” the crypto-verse has exploded with criticism and commentary. In dozens of blogs and publications, and dozens of languages Wow! Really struck a nerve on this one.
