A few years ago, a group of data scientists got together and asked a seemingly simple question: why did data science need to be so hard and take so long? As they reflected on their past efforts, they realized that they spent the vast majority of their time preparing data and creating aggregates — and not nearly enough time building models and creating value. What would happen, they wondered, if they could automate the whole thing?
The result of that question is Xpanse AI. The company claims that it has created a fully automated data science workflow tool that manages the entire process including data identification, data preparation, model development, and deployment. The company states that, as a result, it can reduce the process from months to hours, and deliver working models within one day.
But while the company’s founders originally created the solution as a tool to speed the process for data scientists, they have realized that its most significant benefit may be in its ability to put the power of data science into the hands of business users. The company has built (and is continuing to improve) an easily accessible user interface. It has several use cases in which its clients have business teams that are using the solution to build and deploy models without the involvement of data scientists.
