Tasktop: Flow capacitor for SDLC value

Tasktop logoAn Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

To remember my first encounter with Tasktop, I went back at least a decade. I first heard of their tool filling a gap by moving tasks between the testing, requirements and project management tools of yesteryear through to the emerging agile and continuous delivery solutions that eventually led us to today’s DevOps world.

Flow forward to meeting them again at ServiceNow Knowledge 2019, and it looks like they’ve been very busy on integrations since then, acting as a context automation conduit within and between teams — modeling and tracing the flow of tasks, messages, work processes, development artifacts, and operational data across business software platforms.

What is interesting here is not that they can claim 300+ integrations though — it is that they’ve gained relevance by not claiming to ‘own’ the end-to-end delivery process or project, or even the development and test machinery used in today’s highly fragmented modern software factory. Tasktop can evangelize their process flow without taking sides on a standardization debate.

It is during the times of greatest discontinuity among technology standards — for instance, during a corporate acquisition or significant partnership integration — that Tasktop has the most value to offer enterprises by sticking to the knitting of informational context between whatever various tools the stakeholders use to move the SDLC forward.
