An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
Hyperledger is the most popular open source permissioned blockchain platform on the market today. IBM has largely driven Hyperledger development via its Hyperledger Fabric distribution.
Intel has contributed an alternative distro, Hyperledger Sawtooth, that runs on Kubernetes. Sawtooth features a Proof of Elapsed Time (PoET) consensus mechanism, a more performant and efficient mechanism than the Proof of Work (PoW) at the core of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Blockchain Technology Partners (BTP) offers a blockchain management platform that provides one-click deployment of Sawtooth on Kubernetes clusters that BTP spins up for that purpose.
BTP has also curated a distribution of Sawtooth that gives customers a tested, managed Sawtooth deployment. BTP customers are thus able to take advantage of Sawtooth’s advanced smart contract support.
