Configurable Management: Drag-and-drop decision flow apps atop Systems of Record

Nobody says SAP is easy to customize. At the same time, no mid-to-large size company that runs their business on SAP says they can live without it.

Configurable Management is seeking to close the gap between these essential systems, and the rapid design of business applications that leverage them.

“The agility problem businesses have is that they have so much data, and so many different modules in SAP to work with in designing processes,” says Configurable Management CEO Steven Branch. “So we make adding any function a no-code, drag-and-drop step.”

The company therefore straddles several technology classifications to pull this off, starting with master data management (MDM) algorithms to maintain and migrate data into a composable form. But there are also elements of no-code/low-code, digital process automation (DPA), business process modeling, and even microservices under the covers to produce their resulting apps for the citizen developer.

This also resembles RPA but perhaps offers a less brittle approach — rather than emulating user actions in screens, they make direct REST API calls to SAP modules and other back-end components, allowing business analysts and developers alike to invoke, validate and incorporate SAP tasks and data inputs into pre-built UI components, strung together as usable application workflows that incorporate human and machine decision points.
