Men and Mice: Abstracting DNS, DHCP, and IP Addresses for Hybrid IT Environments

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Effective hybrid IT requires comprehensive abstractions that simplify the management of public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises resources. Men and Mice offers this management abstraction for Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and IP Address Management (IPAM).

Men and Mice focus on simplifying heterogeneity, including heterogeneous DNS services, namely the ubiquitous open source BIND protocol as well as vendor-specific DNS offerings.

DHCP is an on-premises protocol for assigning IP addresses, and Men and Mice are able to include such dynamically assigned local addresses in the end-to-end hybrid IT mix.

Men and Mice doesn’t require any changes to underlying network configurations, and it provides automation capabilities via APIs for integration with service management platforms like ServiceNow.
