Model9: Data Management in the Cloud for Mainframe Data

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Model9 migrates data off the mainframe either to cloud or on-premises storage. The migrated data is in an encrypted, native binary format. Once at its destination, Model9 transforms the data as necessary for analytics or backup purposes.

Model9 can replace tape or virtual tape for backup and restore, as it can return the native binaries to the mainframe. However, supporting various analytical use cases off the mainframe is Model9’s primary purpose. Model9 can migrate both current transactional data as well as archived data for historical analysis.

Such off-host processing can save mainframe processing costs. Model9 also supports cloud-based storage tiers for improved cloud utilization as well.
