Juniper Apstra System: Intent-Based Networking Blows Lid off of Expectations

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

I’ve been a fan of the intent-based networking story from Apstra since I covered the company in September 2017 and again in September 2018.

In fact, the notion of ‘intent-based’ extends well past networking, as intent-based computing is an essential aspect of cloud-native computing.

It came as no surprise, therefore, that Apstra’s performance has exceeded expectations since Juniper Networks acquired the company in January 2021.

Juniper’s customers love the product – as do the customers of Juniper’s major data center networking competitors.

The Apstra acquisition is thus helping Juniper acquire market share in the mature networking hardware market – a remarkable achievement for an infrastructure software product.
