Rafay: Operationalizing Multi-Cluster Kubernetes at Scale

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Since we last covered Rafay in November 2019, the company has broadened and deepened its Kubernetes management platform.

Today, Rafay offers a Kubernetes operations platform that supports all the requirements for running multiple clusters of Kubernetes at scale.

In addition to its multi-cluster management service, the Rafay platform offers a GitOps service (for deploying apps from Git repos), a zero-trust access service, a policy management service, a backup and restore service, and a visibility and monitoring service.

There are certainly vendors that offer each of these services separately. Rafay not only includes them all in a single platform but also enables operators to create and enforce policies across all the platform services.

Rafay integrates with most Kubernetes ecosystem projects out of the box, and its HTTP-based ‘dial out’ approach to security enables the company to run its controller as a SaaS offering in the cloud in a SOC2- compliant manner.

Rafay also provides its platform as a PaaS offering for system integrators and independent software vendors (ISVs) to white label its platform for their customers.

For the most security-conscious customers, Rafay can also run on-premises in an airgapped mode.
