An Intellyx Brain Candy Update
Since our initial coverage of SmartBear after their ReadyAPI release in 2020, the wide-ranging software integration and testing firm has continued to consolidate a comprehensive platform for assuring API-driven applications across their lifecycle.
Most significantly, SmartBear’s acquisition of Pactflow today creates a bi-directional contract-level understanding between API publishers and consumers, providing verifiable evidence that OpenAPI standards and objective specifications are both understood and complied to by development and ops teams on either end of any service call.
Contract testing could be considered the first and last mile of API quality, as it validates them against SwaggerAPI or other specifications to ensure that development, testing, operations and consuming customer teams are sharing a common context when producing test assets and reporting results against the contracts.
