CloudFix: Continuous Cost Saving for AWS

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

CloudFix continuously scans AWS services looking for cost optimization recommendations and, if a recommendation is approved, automatically executes the fix to reduce cost.

CloudFix looks for multiple instances of potential overspend and generates scripts to eliminate the overspend. CloudFix does not provide macro-level cost analysis on an entire account – many other tools are available for that.

CloudFix focuses on the micro-level of minor configuration tweaks that all together can add up to significant savings.

For example, CoudFix might recommend that you run all of your EC2 instances on AMD instead of Intel hardware. Similarly, CloudFix might recommend that you move your Lambda functions from Intel to ARM hardware.

Many other more complex recommendations are available, including more calculations such as how adjusting tiered storage could reduce cost for less frequently-accessed data in S3 buckets.

CloudFix focuses on incremental improvements that are not high risk changes but can add up to significant savings. They are a certified AWS partner and exhibited at the AWS Summit New York July 26, 2003.
