Dwolla’s API abstracts access to the banking system’s Automated Clearing House (ACH) network to provide account-to-account (A2A) payment processing for mobile, web, and other types of commercial applications.
Dwolla distinguishes itself from other, similar, payment processing systems by offering a modern, easy to use API and providing high quality customer support.
Traditional banks typically offer legacy interfaces to the 50-year old ACH network. Dwolla abstracts these older interfaces behind their modern API to simplify connectivity to the bank ACH network to support A2A payments for their ecommerce customers.
Dwolla’s API implementation is deployed as a cloud based gateway, including a sandbox for customers to develop and test their applications.
Dwolla also offers a white label API so that another company can offer their API under their own brand.
