Pega: Adding AI to Automation for Self-Optimizing, Autonomous Enterprises

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Since we last covered Pega in February 2019, the company has shifted dramatically (though not surprisingly) toward AI.

The company still offers a low-code process automation platform. With the addition of both process mining and AI, Pega now provides self-optimizing processes and AI-supported human interactions.

Pega leverages AI for next best action (aka ‘autocomplete’) for its low-code application builder interface, as well as generative AI-based workflow templates and customer engagement strategies.

To address the veracity challenges of standard generative AI, Pega uses the technology to summarize results of processing customer data with a vector database. The result is either well-formed, accurate answers or the answer of ‘do not know,’ rather than making something up.

This approach to veracity also provides explainability. Users can ask the AI how it came up with an answer, and it will be able to respond accurately.
