Directus: A Toolbox for Working with Databases and Files

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

Directus connects to SQL databases, generates APIs and JavaScript for accessing and updating the data, and offers an easy to use GUI for creating simple applications and modifying  the database schemas.

After connecting to a database, Directus ingests its schema and automatically generates APIs for each table to read, write, update, and delete the data stored in the tables. Directus also exposes webhooks and websockets for event based triggers.

Directus connects to AWS S3 buckets and local files for working with unstructured data such as photos and documents.

Directus is an open source project started in 2004. The company offers commercial support services for on prem and in the cloud self hosted implementations, and a managed cloud implementation.
