Kubermatic: Freeing up developer energy with k8s platform engineering

KubermaticAn Intellyx Update from KubeCon NA 2023

Gone are the days when dev teams could queue up for a centrally managed Ops review or an ITIL-like change control board to provision what they need, especially in a Kubernetes-driven world, where architectures and workloads can shift rapidly.

As the vision of platform engineering becomes a reality, application development teams are looking for policy-based methods of independence of workloads from underlying technology platforms, in order to achieve better performance and lower cloud costs.

Fortunately, Kubermatic has been working on this challenge for a while, as demonstrated by our previous coverage of them in 2020 and before. Their self-service container and cluster orchestration platform abstracts away much of the headaches of provisioning Kubernetes, through a management dashboard or an API call that will stamp out copies of ready-to-run infrastructure across multiple cloud and on-prem resources, and local endpoints.
