An Intellyx Update from KubeCon NA 2023
If you were building applications for the cloud before Kubernetes came on the scene, you already knew Cloud Foundry. It used to be the easiest way to do cloud (we last covered them in 2017…). Now, with Platform Engineering making a comeback, the Cloud Foundry Foundation is contributing a smoother development provisioning and deployment experience for cloud native developers.
That’s why it was cool to meet Ram Iyengar, Chief Evangelist of the Cloud Foundry Foundation, at KubeCon 2023 in Chicago. “Our community has built a stable cloud native delivery approach, with Paketo Buildpacks and CRD (custom resource definitions) in Korifi – giving developers a curated Cloud Foundry-style delivery experience on the K8s platform,” said Iyengar.
Currently there are more than a thousand unique projects in the CNCF ecosystem – so developers can use a hand choosing between so many different ingress controllers and control planes. Korifi’s opinionated approach recommends certain well-tested components such as Envoy and Contour, while still allowing developers to swap in their own project and vendor selections.
