Apify extends its expertise as a development tools marketplace vendor to offer a catalog and marketplace for AI tools, in particular, for AI agents to access directly.
The Apify marketplace includes software tools, APIs, and MCP servers. It also offers an automated payments interface that leverages the HTTP 402 ‘payment required’ status code via the x402 protocol.
Apify also offers tool discovery capabilities for LLMs (as well as other purposes). For example, if a user asks Claude for a particular tool, Claude may query Apify for the result, giving the user the ability to purchase access to the tool.
Intellyx hot take: With over 70,000 tools in its marketplace, Apify has something for everyone, especially creators who are targeting the consumer market.
Intellyx cold take: The x402 protocol has gained most of its traction in the blockchain/cryptocurrency marketplace. Descope will have to take care to avoid being lumped together with questionable users of the protocol.
