Avassa: Greater Support for Intermittent Connectivity for its Edge-Based Orchestration Platform

An Intellyx Brain Candy Update

Since we last covered Avassa in November 2023, the company has expanded its support for intermittent connectivity at the edge.

Whether it be point-of-sale retail systems, oil rig operational technology, or any of numerous other use cases, organizations require their cloud-connected apps to continue to function even when connectivity drops.

Avassa’s application orchestration platform tackles this problem with its application-first, container-first approach. By running its customers’ applications in containers on the edge, Avassa preserves their functionality while disconnected, synching data behind the scenes when connectivity is restored.

Avassa can even run virtual machines in containers. Such VMs can then run Windows to support its customers’ Windows-based apps.

Avassa also provides a distributed secrets manager that can protect applications and their data on stolen or otherwise physically disconnected devices.
