An Intellyx Brain Candy Update
We last wrote for Teleport in February 2025, and we published our last Brain Candy covering the company in June 2024.
Since that time, Teleport has pivoted its unified identity platform to extend its core zero-trust principles to AI agents, what the company calls ‘agent trust.’
As part of this move to support AI agent identities, the company has rolled out Beams, its trusted runtime for infrastructure agents.
Teleport has modeled Beams after cloud native containers, which in turn followed virtual machine best practices – and it inherits principles from both.
With Beams, trusted runtimes are isolated (using microVMs), controlled (via Teleport’s own Vnet ‘default deny’ proxy) and ephemeral (typically lasting only as long as the agent’s task).
Teleport is also launching ‘agentic classifiers,’ its name for natural language policies it can enforce end-to-end to prevent intent drift and other agentic misbehavior.
For example, an admin might specify that no agents can escalate their privileges or modify production databases – policies Teleport would enforce across the board.
Intellyx hot take: Teleport Beams combines the best features of agent sandboxes and non-human identity platforms to provide comprehensive controls over agentic behavior.
Intellyx cold take: There remain significant challenges that Teleport will have to address in future releases, including controlling colluding agents and securing long-running agentic orchestrations.
