Born out of a response to the Agile Development and Continuous Delivery movements, DevOps was brought forward by software development communities who were seeking a more holistic approach that aligned Dev, Security and Ops teams with a common purpose to deliver customer valued software to market faster and with greater quality.
Borrowing from the best industrial practices of lean manufacturing, a DevOps ready software shop should have faster reaction times, less work in process and higher morale due to more effective collaboration and provable customer value.
