An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief
Only a few years ago, the asynchronous, streaming-oriented reactive programming paradigm and languages like Scala that followed it were only of interest to a small cadre of deeply technical coders and architects.
Today, Lightbend has brought this paradigm to the enterprise with its Reactive Platform. At its core, this platform consists of several open source components, including the Akka message-driven runtime, Lagom microservices framework, Play web development framework, and the Spark cluster computing framework for streaming and fast data.
For enterprise production environments, Lightbend offers a commercial Enterprise Suite, adding the management, monitoring, integration, and tooling that large organizations require in order to build massively scalable, real-time applications, extending the reactive paradigm beyond early adopters to the much larger early majority of digitally savvy enterprises.
