WSO2: Driving Innovation with Open Source Middleware

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

WSO2 is one of the two leading open source middleware vendors, alongside MuleSoft. WSO2 built its platform as an Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) during the heyday of SOA in the 2000s, and now offers a mature platform for integration, API management, identity and access management, and data analytics that runs both on premises and in the cloud.

WSO2 recently brought on industry veteran Tyler Jewell to fill the CEO role, freeing founder Sanjiva Weerawarana to continue in the chairman and chief architect roles.

Weerawarana is now focusing his efforts on Ballerina, an innovative programming language oriented toward scalable parallel execution, as well as new technology that leverages chaos engineering principles familiar from Netflix. Expect to see more disruptive technology from WSO2 in the late 2018 timeframe.
