NS1: Supporting DevOps and Resilience with Programmable DNS

An Intellyx Brain Candy Brief

The Domain Name Service (DNS) may be a critical functional enabler of the Internet, but the most popular DNS software – the open source BIND – is decades old. Its original authors coded it in the early 1980s long before the cloud or modern cybersecurity challenges redefined the nature of the Internet.

While most DNS providers leverage BIND at some level, NS1 rewrote DNS from the ground up to be fully cloud-native, API-enabled, and far more secure than BIND.

NS1 now serves web-scale companies, telecommunications providers, and enterprises, leveraging the power of programmable DNS to provide smarter cross-cloud redundancy, DDoS mitigation, and real-time traffic management across multiple connectivity providers and CDNs.
