I hadn’t spoken to Pegasystems for over a decade, so I was surprised to learn how far the company has come from their roots as a business process management (BPM) vendor.

Today the company refers to itself as Pega, and BPM is only a small part of what its versatile platform can do. Pega now competes directly with Salesforce in the CRM space, and also offers case management, decision management, robotic process automation, and more.

One of Pega’s differentiators is its machine learning-driven ‘next best action’ capability, enabling it to offer predictive analytics as part of its Customer Decision Hub, and positioning it in competition with Salesforce Einstein.

The Pega Platform also features low-code application development capabilities, enabling the company to play in the burgeoning low-code/no-code market as well.
